Healing Hearts Together: Announcing a New Grief Support Group for Our St. Anthony North Communities

December 9, 2025

At CommonSpirit Health, we understand that life can bring unforeseen challenges and profound losses. While the love we share creates beautiful memories, it can also leave an ache in our hearts. We also recognize that loss comes in many shapes and sizes. We all experience many different kinds of losses in our lives that don’t have traditional rituals for grieving, and we often don’t consider taking the time to grieve them. For example, a divorce, the loss of a job, or caring for someone whose personality or behavior has changed dramatically. When suppressed, the pain from these "ambiguous losses" can impact our physical and mental health.

We believe no one should have to navigate the landscape of grief alone. That’s why we are honored to announce the launch of our new grief support groups at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster, designed to offer compassionate guidance and a supportive community for those coping with loss.

"Exploring The Many Aspects of Grief" has been thoughtfully created to provide a safe space for healing. We are offering daytime and evening groups, all held at the St. Anthony North Cancer Center.

More Than The Loss of Someone You Love: Navigating the Many Nuances of Grief

Our support groups will provide you and others the opportunity to:

  • Be open to the presence of your loss
  • Embrace the uniqueness of your grief
  • Examine different things we grieve
  • Explore your beliefs
  • Learn to love and honor your grief journey

Finding Connection and Community

Our grief support groups offer both daytime and evening options to accommodate your schedule, fostering a welcoming environment where you can connect with others who understand.

  • Daytime Group: Third Thursday of each month, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Evening Group: Fourth Tuesday of each month, 5:30-7 p.m.

We believe in accessibility and ease, so drop-ins are always welcome, and no registration is required. Simply come as you are to the St. Anthony North Cancer Center, located at 14300 Orchard Parkway in Westminster.

Guided with Compassion

Our groups are lovingly led by our dedicated Spiritual Care leaders, who bring a wealth of experience, empathy, and insight to this sacred space:

  • Mary Beth Kirven, MTh, BCC
  • The Rev. Kelly Robbins, M.A., M.A.
  • The Rev. Janet Barriger, MDiv., ACPE

These compassionate leaders are here to offer a guiding hand, facilitate meaningful discussions, and provide a nurturing presence as you navigate your path through grief.
