About

CommonSpirit is dedicated to providing whole person care to every patient. And our nurses are at the forefront of this mission. Over 6,000 strong, CommonSpirit nurses actively influence the way we practice, developing solutions for better processes across our ecosystem. Our nurses matter. And they impact every aspect of the organization – especially the many lives entrusted in our care.

Professional Practice Model

How do CommonSpirit nurses achieve excellence? We come together with shared beliefs, values and vehicles through which we deliver care and extend the healing ministry of Christ. The CommonSpirit Nursing Professional Practice Model illustrates these elements on great plains and soaring mountains, representing the communities we serve. The dove symbolizes our commitment to caring for the whole person with focus on Relationship Based Care – care of ourselves, care of our colleagues, and care of patients and families.

Shared Governance Model for CommonSpirit Nursing

Shared Governance

At CommonSpirit, nurses play a significant role in how our organization functions. Collaborative decision-making is at the heart of this process. Our nurses serve on multidisciplinary teams that focus on implementation of best practices, integration of research and ongoing quality and performance improvements. They help guide the organization in issues such as retention and recognition, mentoring, succession planning and professional development. With shared governance, our nurses make a difference and are involved, invested and inspired.
