CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital Acquires Intuitive's da Vinci 5 Surgical System

November 20, 2025

The state-of-the-art robotic system is used for minimally invasive urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgeries

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (November 19, 2025) − CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the Intuitive da Vinci 5® (dV5) surgical system, designed with the goal of further advancing technology used in minimally invasive care. St. Francis is the first hospital in the CommonSpirit Mountain Region to offer this type of surgical procedure.

The system can be used for minimally invasive urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgeries. As with all da Vinci surgical systems, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci system, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body.

“We are excited to be a leader in this field. The dV5 is Intuitive’s most advanced and integrated platform - designed to transform surgery to enable better outcomes, efficiency, and actionable insights,” said Gina Temple, President, St. Francis Hospital. “This system will allow us to care for patients with a variety of urology, gynecology and thoracic needs. We will also use the da Vinci 5 for general surgeries.”
