FORT MORGAN, CO (September 16, 2025) - CommonSpirit St. Elizabeth Hospital is proud to announce the launch of a new Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss Clinic, designed to provide comprehensive care and support for individuals seeking effective solutions for weight management.
The clinic will offer appointments every other month, beginning on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and will feature the expertise of renowned bariatric surgeon Dr. Jonathan Schoen. The new clinic will be conveniently located at St. Elizabeth Hospital and aims to serve the Fort Morgan community and surrounding areas by bringing specialized weight loss services closer to home.
"We are thrilled to expand access to vital bariatric and medical weight loss services for our community, and incredibly proud to welcome Dr. Jonathan Schoen to our team," said John Swanhorst, President and Chief Nursing Officer of St. Elizabeth Hospital. "Dr. Schoen's expertise in bariatric surgery will be an invaluable asset, reinforcing our commitment to improving the health and well-being of our patients by offering advanced treatment options in a convenient, local setting."
The Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss Clinic will be held on the third Wednesday of every other month, providing a consistent and accessible schedule for patients. Services will encompass a full spectrum of care, including pre-operative assessments and consultations with Dr. Schoen for a wide range of bariatric surgical options.
“Access to effective medical weight loss solutions, including advanced bariatric surgery, should never be dictated by a zip code," Dr. Schoen said. "Our goal is to ensure that comprehensive care is available to everyone who needs it, regardless of their proximity to a major metropolitan center. Bringing these services directly to communities like Fort Morgan removes significant barriers and ensures more individuals can achieve lasting health and well-being."
Dr. Schoen specializes in bariatric surgery, which includes the Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass, SADI (Single Anastomosis Duodenalileostomy), Lap Band Removal, and prior surgery revisions. The clinic will also offer non-surgical medical weight loss programs and comprehensive post-operative support.
