The distinctions demonstrate Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care

WEST JORDAN, UT (December 10, 2025) – Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley has earned the distinction of ACS Surgical Quality Partner by the American College of Surgeons by virtue of having an accredited Metabolic and Bariatric program. Additionally, the hospital has been designated by Aetna Insurance as an Aetna Institute of Quality for Bariatric Surgery.

Being an ACS Surgical Quality Partner signifies a hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches while maintaining a critical eye on process at every step. The Surgical Quality Partner designation lets patients know Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley is dedicated to quality and relentless self-improvement and has been verified or accredited by the ACS. Patients can trust that the care they receive at Surgical Quality Partner hospitals adheres to the most rigorous standards in surgical quality.

Jordan Valley earned ACS Surgical Quality Partner status as a result of its accreditation by the ACS MBSAQIP program. MBSAQIP is a comprehensive, nationwide surgical quality program aimed at ensuring the safe and effective performance of metabolic and bariatric surgery. Surgical outcomes focus on weight loss and the treatment of obesity-related diseases, like diabetes, sleep apnea, and others. Research shows accredited centers experience lower complications, and better outcomes than that of non-accredited facilities.

Similarly, the hospital earned Aetna IOQ status by demonstrating that it consistently delivers safe, effective care. Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of that care available to its members in order to help them identify facilities that meet their special health care needs.

“We are excited to receive both of these recognitions for the quality surgical services available at our hospital. Our bariatric surgery program is just one of the many areas of surgical excellence at Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley. The American College of Surgeons has long been the gold standard for determining surgical quality,” said Catherine Beck, MD, chief of surgery at Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley.

“We are also extremely honored to be named an Aetna Institute of Quality for Bariatric Surgery. These two designations are not only very meaningful to our hospitals and surgeons, but also a powerful signal to the community that they can receive the highest quality surgical care here,” she said.

Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley has also been recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Distinction program.

"ACS Quality programs are grounded in more than a century of experience and participation is an important measure of a hospital’s surgical quality. As an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley has shown a commitment providing the best possible patient care, evaluating that care in a rigorous fashion, and dedicating themselves to continuous self-improvement," said ACS Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer Patricia L.
