CANON CITY, CO (Aug. 3, 2026) – CommonSpirit St. Thomas More Hospital recently acquired new cutting-edge mammography, ultrasound equipment and Fluoro room - marking an advancement in its commitment to providing excellent patient care and diagnostic services. This new equipment will provide improved image quality, faster processing times, and better capabilities for earlier detection.
The new imaging suite, featuring a Hologic mammography system and a Philips ultrasound unit, is designed to elevate the patient experience while also empowering clinicians with more precise diagnostic tools. The new Siemens Rad/Fluoro Room can be used as a regular Xray room or a Fluoro room. Fluoro is used for barium studies to visualize the gastrointestinal tract, joint injections, myelograms, and other special procedures.

For example, for mammography patients, the Hologic system offers significantly quicker exam times and features a curved ergonomic paddle design, engineered to enhance patient comfort. The advanced system also improves image quality and bolsters the detection of small cancers in their earliest stages, a key factor in successful treatment. The Siemens Fluoroscopy system provides better image quality and supports safer diagnostic and interventional procedures for patients. The unit was designed with comfort in mind to reduce physical strain.
