CommonSpirit Mercy and St. Mary-Corwin hospitals are among the nation’s very best for patient experience

Centennial, Colorado (May 12, 2026) – CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region announced today that two of its hospitals - CommonSpirit St. Mary-Corwin Hospital and CommonSpirit Mercy Hospital - have been named 2026 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recipients by Healthgrades, the No. 1 site Americans use to find a doctor or hospital. The achievement reflects St. Mary-Corwin’s and Mercy’s commitment to superior, patient-centered care and puts St. Mary-Corwin in the top 5% and Mercy in the top 15% of hospitals nationwide for patient experience.

This is the second year in a row that St. Mary-Corwin has received the award and the third consecutive year for Mercy.

"In the CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region, our sacred purpose is to improve the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable. Receiving the Healthgrades 2026 Outstanding Patient Experience Award for both St. Mary-Corwin and Mercy hospitals is a testament to our collective commitment to this mission,” said Dr. Stacey-Ann Okoth, Chief Nursing Officer, Mountain Region. “Through ongoing investments in innovative technologies that enhance communication and comfort, and by continuously fostering a culture of empathy and respect, we strive to ensure every patient's journey with us is one of dignity, understanding, and positive healing. This award truly celebrates our unwavering focus on the holistic well-being of those we are privileged to serve."

About the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Each year, Healthgrades recognizes the top hospitals nationwide that provide an exceptional experience for patients during their hospital stay. For its 2026 analysis, Healthgrades evaluated Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient survey data from nearly 4,000 hospitals across 10 patient experience measures.*

These measures focus on patients’ perceptions of their hospital care, including staff communication, medication explanations, and cleanliness. Mercy’s and St. Mary-Corwin’s Outstanding Patient Experience Award is the direct result of positive patient feedback in these critical areas.

"Better patient experiences are correlated with better health outcomes, which is why patients should always strive to seek care at a facility with a clear dedication to high-quality, patient-centered care,” said Dr. Alana Biggers, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “As Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, Mercy and St. Mary-Corwin hospitals set the benchmark for patient experience nationwide, ensuring that every patient feels heard, empowered, and confident throughout the care journey.”
