St. Mary-Corwin Hospital to provide athletic training support to pro arena team

PUEBLO, CO (Feb. 19, 2026) – CommonSpirit Health was recently named the official health care partner of the Pueblo Punishers, a new local professional arena football team and the newest team to join the National Arena League.

As the official health care partner of the Punishers, St. Mary-Corwin Hospital will provide athletic training and game-day medical resources to care for the team’s athletes, as well as pre- and post-season sports physicals, concussion management, and expedited access to imaging and orthopedic services if needed.

“It’s awesome to welcome CommonSpirit as our team’s official health care partner,” said Lisa Rohrich, owner and CEO of the Pueblo Punishers. “St. Mary-Corwin has been providing quality care to the community for more than 140 years, so it was a natural fit to partner with them. We look forward to working together to provide a positive impact in our community.”

Athletic trainers with St. Mary-Corwin will be at every home game during the season that kicks off Feb. 28 to provide care to the team.

This is the first pro arena football team in Pueblo’s history. The Punishers are looking forward to bringing “high-impact hits and hometown pride” to the area.

"CommonSpirit is honored to provide compassionate and personalized care to the professional athletes on the Pueblo Punishers team," said Mike Cafasso, president of St. Mary-Corwin. “This team has already made a big impact on the community. Ensuring the team stays healthy before, during and after the game is important and we are excited for the season."
