WESTMINSTER, COLO. (January 22, 2026) - CommonSpirit St. Anthony North Hospital’s Spiritual Care Department is proud to announce the launch of new, free monthly grief support groups designed to provide vital resources and a compassionate space for individuals navigating loss. These groups are open to the public and offer support for all forms of grief, recognizing the profound impact loss can have on emotional and physical health.
The importance of tending to grief extends beyond emotional healing, as research indicates that grieving individuals face a higher risk of serious health issues, including heart attack and stroke. St. Anthony North Hospital is committed to supporting the holistic well-being of its community, and these new groups are a testament to that dedication.
"Grief is a complex and deeply personal journey, and it’s essential to provide spaces where individuals feel safe and supported in their healing process," said Mary Beth Kirven, staff chaplain at St. Anthony North Hospital. "These support groups are designed to offer a nurturing environment for sharing experiences, fostering connections, and ultimately, promoting both emotional and physical well-being for our community members. We encourage anyone experiencing grief, in any of its forms, to join us."
The new groups will address both the loss of loved ones and "ambiguous loss," which encompasses a wide range of experiences such as divorce, job loss, living with chronic pain, or the challenges of becoming a caregiver. This inclusive approach acknowledges the diverse ways grief manifests and the need for comprehensive support.
