CommonSpirit Mountain Region Announces Opportunity for Non-Profit Organizations to Apply for Grants Improving Community Health

Philanthropic grants to provide critical assistance delivering services addressing health needs

Centennial, CO (July 27, 2026) – The Mountain Region of CommonSpirit Health is inviting local nonprofit organizations to consider applying for grants that support the delivery of services vital to improving health and well-being, and improving health equity. The application period opened July 27 and runs through September 18, 2026.

This opportunity is part of the CommonSpirit Health Community Health Improvement Grants program. The program funds community-based organizations working to address the priority health needs identified through each hospital's Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Conducted every three years, the CHNA helps hospitals and community partners identify the most pressing health and social needs within the communities they serve.

Michael Bilton, System Director for Community Health and Community Benefit, said, “We are intentional and focused in community outreach and programs to improve health and well being. It is important that our hospitals use resources in ways that help address demonstrated, locally-relevant health issues. The grant program is one way we put this into practice.”

Bilton also commented on the value of working with community organizations, stating, “The grant program reflects a commitment to partnering with the communities we serve to improve community health. Hospitals and health systems are part of the solution, but it takes a diversity of actions to strengthen overall health.”

Applications for grants of greater than $20,000 must include collaborating partner organizations helping to deliver services. Partners are encouraged, but not required, for smaller grants.

"Our community partners are deeply rooted in the communities they serve and are often best positioned to develop innovative solutions to local health challenges," said Ashleigh Phillips, Regional Director of Community Health for CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region. "Through the Community Health Improvement Grants program, we invest in organizations that improve access to care, address the social drivers of health, and create lasting change. Together, we can build healthier, more equitable communities across Colorado, Kansas, and Utah."

Successful applicants will be notified in January 2027 for projects funded for the period April 2027 through March 2028.

The CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region is committed to improving the health of the people and communities it serves, especially those who are most vulnerable. Through the Community Health Improvement Grant Program, the organization continues to invest in community partnerships that create lasting improvements in health and well-being.
