Dr. Karim Meijer is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at The Sports Center - CommonSpirit Health. He also serves as Executive Medical Director of Sports Medicine for CommonSpirit’s Mountain Region. Dr. Meijer's practice focuses on the non-operative and operative treatments of shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries in active individuals.
Dr. Meijer is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Sports Medicine. He is the Head Team Physician and Medical Director for the Denver Broncos; he previously was the Head Team Physician for the New Orleans Saints.
As a former University of Texas football player on the 2005 National Championship team, Dr. Meijer understands firsthand the impact of injuries on athletes. This background forms the foundation of his treatment philosophy and motivates him to treat all patients who want an active lifestyle, from recreational enthusiasts to professional athletes.
After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Texas, Dr. Meijer attended medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his orthopedic residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, before being selected by Dr. James R. Andrews for his Sports Medicine fellowship in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Meijer enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing tennis and pickleball, working out, fishing, hunting, and engaging in any outdoor activity.
