Our Services
Whether you are having a routine screening, undergoing a biopsy, or are facing a breast cancer diagnosis, our highly skilled and caring team of breast care experts offers compassionate and comprehensive care right here in Garden City.
CommonSpirit St. Catherine Hospital - Garden City’s Breast Care team uses 3D mammography and state-of-the-art digital imaging technology for reliable mammograms. Digital technology provides higher-quality images, lower doses of radiation, and improved accuracy. 3D mammography, or tomosynthesis, creates a three-dimensional image of the breast tissue, enabling the radiologist to examine the breast tissue one layer at a time. This technology improves the detection of cancer and decreases false positives by 40 percent.
Breast radiologists
Where you choose to have your mammogram matters. At St. Catherine Hospital, our radiologists specialize in breast imaging. Every mammogram at St. Catherine Hospital - Garden City is reviewed by one of our fellowship-trained and board-certified radiologists. Their expertise translates to fewer unnecessary invasive procedures and earlier detection of breast cancer.
If our radiologists suspect breast cancer, they will work closely with the Breast Care team to confirm the diagnosis and initiate treatment.
Nuclear medicine
Nuclear medicine provides a deeper level of insight into your breast health. By identifying metabolic activity at the cellular level, our specialized imaging technology helps us see what traditional mammography sometimes misses. Whether you have dense breast tissue or require follow-up for a suspicious finding, our goal is to provide the clarity you deserve with the comfort and care you expect.
Breast Surgery
If a patient needs surgery, we use advanced magnetic seed localization for a wire-free procedure. Magnetic seed localization uses a tiny, rice-sized magnetic marker placed directly into a tumor or lymph node. Implanted under local anesthesia weeks before the operation, the magnetic seed replaces traditional, uncomfortable hook wires. Surgeons then use a specialized wand to precisely locate the seed, allowing for smaller incisions and maximum healthy tissue preservation during surgery.
