About

The 12,000-square-foot house was built in 2008 and dedicated in remembrance of John Zay, an extraordinary Penrose Hospital chaplain and cancer survivor who comforted and inspired countless people. The home offers lodging and amenities to out-of-town visitors during their times of greatest need, removing the burden of travel and hotel costs. The John Zay Guest House serves more than 2,400 guests every year with 5,800 nights of lodging.

Affectionately called “the house that love built,” the John Zay Guest House was funded entirely by donations from generous individuals and foundations. Nearly 100 community tradespeople volunteered their time and talent to bring it to life.

Donation Based

Operating and maintaining our guest house ministry relies on the generosity of our community, including donations from guest house patients and visitors. We do not charge a set fee for the lodging we provide, but we respectfully request that each guest make a donation to the house. Friends and families are also welcome to donate on behalf of the guest.

FAQs
