Our state-of-the art facility, located on the St. Anthony Medical Campus, is the only orthopedic and spine specialty hospital in the Rocky Mountain Region, meaning orthopedics and spine care is all we do. About Our Hospital
Established in 2010, OrthoColorado Hospital is a joint venture between local spine and orthopedic surgery practices and CommonSpirit Health. As the only orthopedic and spine specialty hospital in the Rocky Mountain region, OrthoColorado is designed specifically for orthopedic and spine patients and offers the latest advanced techniques and procedures in joint replacement and spine care.
Located on the St. Anthony Hospital Campus in Lakewood, OrthoColorado features a 48-bed inpatient unit and 8 state-of-the art operating rooms. All members of the OrthoColorado team are especially trained to meet the unique needs of orthopedic and spine patients and follow standardized clinical protocols to help ensure better, safer outcomes.

Leaders
OrthoColorado Hospital Leadership
Jude Torchia has served as CEO of OrthoColorado Hospital, a 48-bed orthopedic and spine specialty hospital and a joint venture with CommonSpirit Health and Orthopedic Physician Group, since its pre-opening in 2009. His leadership has guided OrthoColorado Hospital to becoming the premier destination for orthopedics.
Prior to CommonSpirit Health, Jude served in leadership roles at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas and Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland, Texas. As CEO of Cleveland Regional Medical Center, he helped turn a facility that was losing close to $10M annually to a positive EBIDTA of just under $2M in three years.
He has devoted the last 30 years to the health care industry and has experience in opening new hospitals and working with established and well-recognized orthopedic surgeons. As a leading “Physician Facing” CEO, he excels at building and enhancing physician relationships.
Jude graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a major in biology and business; and holds a masters degree in Health Services Administration from George Washington University. His wife Teresa is an RN; his son and daughter are both married; and he has two granddaughters. In his spare time he enjoys golf, swimming, and hiking.
Katy Comoglio, MBA, began her career in finance at Indiana University Health. Since joining the ministry in 2015, she has served as finance manager, group director of budget and decision support, and director of finance.
In her current role as vice president and chief financial officer, she serves both OrthoColorado Hospital and St. Anthony Hospital.
Katy received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Butler University in Indianapolis and her master's of business administration with a concentration in health care administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
Katy has been drawn to health care since an early age when her younger brother was diagnosed with cancer. Through her service, she finds fulfillment in positively impacting others' lives.
Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband, children, dogs and friends, camping and traveling.
Having started his career as an Intensive Care and Trauma nurse, George brings more than 15 years of nursing leadership to the OrthoColorado Team. Most recently he served as OrthoColorado’s Director of Acute Care Services after working as an Intensive Care Unit Manager at our sister hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center.
During his 10-year tenure at Baylor Medical Center, George served as an Intensive Care Unit Manager, Administrative Manager, and Intensive Care Unit Supervisor, where he honed his skill in building teams and established a solid track record for delivering superb customer service.
Among his many credentials, George holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Baylor University.
Bharat M. Desai, MD, has served as Chief Medical Officer for OrthoColorado Hospital since its opening in 2010. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in musculoskeletal trauma and foot and ankle care.
Dr. Desai graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed a trauma fellowship program at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He is an active member of OrthoColorado Hospital’s Medical Executive Committee, Value Review Committee, Peer Review and part of OrthoColorado Hospital’s senior leadership team.

As a leader in Same Day Joint Replacement surgery, OrthoColorado has successfully completed more than 900 same day surgeries with 80% of our total joint replacement patients electing to participate in this accelerated recovery process. Designed with our patients’ health as the top priority – our same day total joint replacement program includes specialized care protocols to ensure patients can safely recover in the comfort of their own home. With no overnight hospital stay, same day surgery allows our patients to get on the road to recovery quicker so they can get back to doing the things they love.

Visitor information
Please read CommonSpirit Health's current COVID-19 visitor restrictions. Contact the hospital directly for additional individual visitor policies that may apply.
All visitors of patients at our hospital enjoy equal visitation privileges consistent with patient preferences and subject to the facility’s clinical restrictions. Visitor policy may be subject to change. Please adhere to any adjustments to permitted visitors, as posted in our facility.
- Visitors under the age of 14 must be escorted by a responsible adult.
- Visitation in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit is limited to one visitor per patient.
- The main lobby entrance is locked from 8 pm to 5 am Monday through Friday and 8 pm to 8 am on Saturday and Sunday. For hospital access after visiting hours, please ring the security call system doorbell located to the right of the main entrance.
- There may be times when visitors are asked to leave to better meet the needs of our patients.
Patients and visitors may park in Lot B with overflow in Lot A. Free parking is available 24 hours a day. Free valet parking is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. Please see the Concierge located at the front desk for assistance after hours.

Letters and packages are delivered to patients Monday - Friday. If you have letters to be mailed, you may give them to your nurse. Flowers addressed to you will be delivered to your room unless you are in the intensive care unit. Only Mylar® balloons are permitted in the hospital. Latex balloons can cause allergic responses and interfere with hospital safety systems.
ATMs are located on the first floor of St. Anthony Hospital by the Green Mountain Marketplace and Café and by the St. Anthony Hospital emergency department.

Preoperative education not only helps patients recover faster and reduce the risk of complications and readmissions, it gives you and your caregiver peace-of-mind knowing what to expect throughout each step of the care journey.
