About Vivian Ussui, MD
Dr. Vivian Ussui is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist who will be practicing at CommonSpirit Gastroenterology Longmont. She brings a comprehensive approach to patient care, with special interests spanning a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders. Her expertise includes colon cancer screening, metabolic syndrome, GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and various liver disorders. Dr. Ussui also focuses on the nutritional aspects related to GI health, gut-brain associated disorders, gut microbiota, women's health, and motility disorders, highlighting her commitment to holistic patient well-being.
Dr. Ussui's extensive educational background includes medical education and residency at the State University of Campinas/UNICAMP in Brazil, with additional residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She further honed her expertise through fellowships at UNICAMP and Carilion Clinic/Virginia Tech University, ensuring a strong foundation in both clinical practice and advanced research.
Her research experience includes time at the Gastrointestinal (GI) Division at the Mayo Clinic, where her primary focus was the use of confocal endomicroscopy. Dr. Ussui also trained in Tokyo through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the National Cancer Center, learning about early gastric cancer detection, colonoscopy techniques, colon screening and removal of colon polyps.
