About Dietrich Riepen, MD
Dr. Dietrich Riepen, MD, is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon at CommonSpirit Mercy Orthopedics Associates. His patient care philosophy is to consider each patient and injury carefully and individually. He believes that a wide variety of factors must be considered to determine the optimal treatment strategy. Surgery is only recommended if there is a clear advantage over non-operative treatment and benefits outweigh risks.
Dr. Riepen stays up to date with current orthopedic literature, utilizes the latest techniques, and strives to treat each patient with empathy and diligence.
Dr. Riepen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Economics and graduating summa cum laude from the Plan-I Honors program. He then returned to Dallas for medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern, where he maintained a 4.0 GPA and was inducted into AOA honor society.
After medical school, he stayed on at UT Southwestern/Parkland Hospital for his Orthopedic Surgery residency, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He then pursued additional fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery at the Reno Orthopedic Clinic, one of the highest volume trauma fellowships in the United States.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Riepen enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends. His interests also include international travel, hiking, exercise, recreational sports, and world geography.
