About Richard Gilroy, MD
Dr. Richard Gilroy, MD, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at CommonSpirit Gastroenterology Jordan Valley. He believes that optimal individualized patient care is a collaborative endeavor that “takes a village" of compassionate, skilled, and committed individuals working together. Dr. Gilroy deeply values his role as a member of the dedicated team at CommonSpirit, contributing his expertise and passion to this collective effort.
Dr. Gilroy completed medical school at the University of Queensland, followed by his Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. He then achieved board certifications in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in Australia. Further honing his expertise, Dr. Gilroy pursued specialized training in Transplant Hepatology and Gastroenterology at the University of Nebraska. He achieved the esteemed rank of Professor of Medicine at the University of Kansas in 2012. More recently, he served as the Medical Director of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at Intermountain Health.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Gilroy enjoys many outdoor pursuits, including water skiing, snow skiing, wakeboarding, tennis, golf, rugby, and soccer. Above all, he cherishes the moments spent watching his family participate in these same activities.
