Gary Sakryd, PA-C

Gary Sakryd, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedics at The Sports Center - CommonSpirit. Gary’s care philosophy emphasizes that all patients, from non-athletes to weekend warriors to professional athletes, deserve to understand the nature of their injury or condition. He believes patients should always receive a clear explanation of their condition in terms they understand, be given choices regarding their treatment, and be empowered to make their own educated decisions based on the most up-to-date research and available guidelines.

Gary earned his Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from the University of Southern Mississippi. He then completed his Master of Science with an emphasis in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology from the University of Oregon, followed by an Athletic Training Fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic. He became a physician assistant after graduating from Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Gary was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (DFAAPA) in 2018.

In his personal time, Gary enjoys an array of activities such as biking, snowboarding, and following college football. He also engages in woodworking, playing the guitar and piano, and cherishes spending time with his family. Traveling and reading history are among his other passions.
