About Kimberly Mackey, MD
Dr. Kimberly Mackey, MD, is a neurosurgeon at CommonSpirit Neurosurgery Penrose. She offers compassionate and thoughtful care, spending time in the clinic with her patients and their families to explain imaging studies and the risks and benefits of surgical intervention. Dr. Mackey firmly believes in discussing both nonoperative and operative approaches to disease, as well as the crucial role of pain management and rehabilitation. She is a strong advocate for a multidisciplinary approach to neurosurgical diseases.
Dr. Mackey earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at LeBonheur and St. Jude Children's Hospitals in Memphis. Dr. Mackey is double boarded in adult and pediatric neurosurgery and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. She most recently served as Chief of Neurosurgery at SGMC Health in Valdosta, GA.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Mackey enjoys spending time with her husband, who is active duty in the U.S. Air Force, and their two young sons. She enjoys traveling around the U.S. and internationally, spending time with their horses, being active in her church community, and participating in local and international medical mission work.
