About Scott Baker, MD
Dr. Scott Baker, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS, is a board-certified colorectal and general surgeon and physician leader with extensive experience building high-performing surgical programs and advancing clinical quality across diverse healthcare settings. He currently serves as Medical Staff President at CommonSpirit Holy Cross Hospital - Davis and is on the Board of Community Advisors for CommonSpirit Health’s Utah market.
Dr. Baker has led strategic growth, physician recruitment, and operational performance for several surgical departments throughout his career. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Baker has developed and expanded colorectal surgery and cancer programs across hospital systems and private practice. He has held numerous physician leadership roles, including on the Board of Directors for Tanner Clinic, President of the Medical Staff, Chief of Surgery, Trauma Medical Director, and Chair of multiple hospital committees spanning credentials, cancer, and surgical operations. His leadership has focused on improving operating room efficiency, advancing accreditation efforts, and aligning physicians around quality, access, and growth initiatives. He is also a contributor to national colorectal cancer standards through the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Baker earned his MD from the University of South Dakota, completed general surgery residency at Guthrie Clinic/Robert Packer Hospital, and completed fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Grant Medical Center. He also holds an MBA, supporting his work in healthcare strategy and operations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with family, skiing and supporting the Utah Mammoth hockey team.
