About

Pain hurts, we can provide pain management solutions.

It's a simple truth, an obvious fact. Solving the complex problems of debilitating pain is neither simple nor obvious. Often it demands the breadth of knowledge and skill that only a doctor who specializes in pain relief can offer.

Our Services

Our pain management physicians are experts in interventions for relieving your pain and restoring your quality of life. We use the least invasive and most effective techniques to diagnose and treat painful conditions - often with fewer side effects, less risk of complications and less reliance on medications. Whether your symptoms are new or you've suffered for years, we can help. Even if it seems you've tried everything, you may be surprised how much better you could feel.

Back Pain Program

Suffering from back pain or neck pain can significantly impact your daily life. At CommonSpirit Pain Specialists at St. Anthony North, our comprehensive Back Pain Program is designed to guide you through your recovery journey, connecting you to the right treatments and support to help you achieve lasting relief and return to the activities you love.

Your Personalized Path to Back Pain Relief Starts Here

Navigating back pain treatment can be overwhelming. That's why our program simplifies the process, ensuring you receive coordinated, holistic care from start to finish.

Step 1: Getting Started and Your Dedicated Nurse Navigator

Your journey begins with a referral from your primary care provider or an emergency department physician. Once referred, our Back Pain Program Nurse Practitioner Navigator will promptly contact you for a virtual intake appointment.

What to expect:

  • Assessment of Your Needs: Your navigator will discuss your specific back or neck pain, its impact on your life, and your treatment goals.
  • Expert Guidance: Our navigators are experienced nurse practitioners specializing in musculoskeletal disorders, including back and neck pain, pain management, and spine surgery.
  • Seamless Coordination: They act as your personal guide through our healthcare system, connecting you with specialists and ensuring smooth communication between all members of your care team, including your primary care provider.
  • Continuous Support: Your navigator will stay in touch throughout your treatment, ensuring its effectiveness and supporting you every step of the way until your pain is resolved.

Step 2: Tailored Treatment for Your Back & Neck Pain

We believe in a comprehensive approach to back pain. After your initial assessment, you'll receive targeted treatment options customized to your individual needs.

Most back and neck pain can be successfully treated with non-surgical, conservative options. However, if surgery is the best path for you, our navigator will ensure you're connected with the appropriate surgical specialists.

Your personalized treatment plan may include:

Pain Management Solutions

Our pain management experts use advanced techniques to diagnose and treat chronic back pain and neck pain. They aim to reduce reliance on medication and complications, focusing on improving your function and overall well-being with minimally invasive treatments.

Physical Therapy

CommonSpirit Health physical therapists specialize in back and neck recovery. Many hold Master's or Doctorate degrees and are licensed in Colorado. Physical therapy helps:

  • Enhance recovery from injuries
  • Optimize lifestyle activities to prevent future pain
  • Improve quality of life, independence, and overall function
  • Increase strength and flexibility
  • You return to your prior activity level, or even better

Surgical Spine Options

For those who may benefit from surgery, our back and spine experts focus on providing an accurate diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan. Surgical options consider your age, activity level, and goals, and may include:

  • Decompression: Procedures like laminectomy or foraminotomy to relieve nerve pressure.
  • Disk Procedures: Including discectomy (removal of herniated disk material) or disk replacement.
  • Fusion: Spinal fusion to stabilize vertebrae.
  • Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty: Using bone cement to treat compression fractures.

Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM)

We also can connect you with beneficial complementary therapies for back and neck pain, integrating them into your care plan for comprehensive well-rounded healing. These may include:

  • Chiropractic Services
  • Acupuncture
  • Massage Therapy
  • Yoga

The Back Pain Program Navigator will help coordinate these services with your primary care provider and other specialists.
