About Laura Stein, MD

Laura Stein, MD, was a full-scope family practice doctor for 27 years in Pueblo, where she had the privilege of delivering many babies and taking care of multiple generations in the same family. She is now partially retired and focused on teaching, but still enjoys greeting her patients at the Southern Colorado Family Medicine clinic while supervising the residents.

Originally from Madison, WI, Dr. Stein received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, followed by residency in Albuquerque, NM. She joined the faculty of Southern Colorado Family Medicine after holding locum tenens positions for two years. Dr. Stein is interested in serving the local migrant farm worker population and started an off-site clinic at the Avondale Los Pobres Center. She has received awards for the Colorado Family Practice Teacher of the Year and the Colorado University Rural Faculty of the Year.

Pueblo has felt like home since day one for Dr. Stein, who enjoys spending time with her spouse and two adult children, as well as horseback riding, skiing, snowshoeing and hiking, especially in the San Isabel National Forest area.
