About Alan Cooper, MD

Dr. Cooper joined Colorado Kidney Care in 1995, Dr. Cooper is active in the education of Residents and medical students at Exempla St. Joseph's Hospital and at Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center. Dr. Cooper went to medical school at the Unversity of South Alabama and did his Internal Medicine Residency there as well. He did his Renal Fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where he received the Individual National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health in 1994 for his research in oxygen free radicals. He has written a book chapter on elevated potassium levels.
Dr. Cooper's professional interests include outpatient dialysis, hypertension and acute renal failure. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Acute Dialysis at Kindred Hospital and the Client Services Advisory Committee for Project Angel Heart.
