Hernia Surgery

If you think you have a hernia and want to talk to a hernia surgeon, call 801-208-1050 to set up a consultation and examination with one of our hernia specialists at Surgical Oncology West Jordan.

What is a hernia?

A hernia is a weakness in the connective tissue (fascia) of the body. Once this weakness occurs, it allows organs or tissues to protrude through this opening.

Where does a hernia occur?

  • Most commonly in the abdominal wall, belly button or groin (inguinal)

  • Previous surgical scar site

What are the signs of hernia?

  • A bulge in the abdominal wall or belly button (belly button has become an "outie")

  • Pain, pulling or burning sensation at the bulge site

  • Nausea or constipation

Do I have to have surgery on my hernia?

  • Not all hernias need surgery, but it is important to be evaluated before it becomes a problem or emergency

  • If you have pain or symptoms, you should consider surgery

Untreated hernias may lead to more pain, increase in size of the hernia, nausea, and increased discomfort in your daily life activities. If you are experiencing any of the above hernia symptoms, call 801-208-1050 to schedule a consultation with one of our hernia surgery specialists.
