Robot-Assisted Gynecologic Surgery

CommonSpirit Health provides women with access to high-quality, compassionate gynecological care and minimally invasive options for gynecologic surgery, including robot-assisted surgery.

Our team of renowned gynecologic surgeons and care providers treat patients who suffer from a variety of gynecologic medical conditions.

Some of the most common include:

  • Uterine fibroids - tumors that grow from the muscle of the uterus
  • Heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding
  • Endometriosis - a condition in which the lining from inside the uterus, which normally sheds during periods, is found outside of the uterus, usually in the abdomen or on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or pelvic lining
  • Uterine or vaginal vault prolapse - condition in which muscles and tissue become stretched or torn, allowing pelvic organs to slip out of their normal places or drop down (prolapse)

We offer the following robot-assisted gynecological surgery procedures:

  • Hysterectomy - a common surgery that removes the uterus
  • Hysterectomy to remove endometrial cancer - includes the removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes (a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy). A pelvic and para-aortic lymph node biopsy may also be necessary to determine the stage and grade of the cancer
  • Myomectomy - surgery to remove fibroids, reduce heavy menstrual bleeding, decrease pain and pressure or improve fertility
  • Excision of endometriosis - the least invasive form of surgery to treat endometriosis
  • Sacrocolpopexy - a surgery for uterine or vaginal vault prolapse that corrects the anatomical position of the vagina or uterus following muscle weakness and ligament stretching
  • Ovarian Cystectomy - the surgical removal of ovarian cysts
